Background
There is a core exhibition relating to the historic
Round Tower and the Pictish history of the Abernethy
area.
Abernethy's highly acclaimed Millennium quilt
is also on permanent display. The other displays in
the Museum are changed each year, with many of them
focussing on life in Abernethy in more recent times. There is also a children's activities corner based on current displays.
By the eighteenth century, the economy of the parish
was based around the textile industry, agriculture and
fishing. Indeed fishing remained an important industry until late in the twentieth century, while agriculture continues to be a driving force in the area, and textile firms also retain a presence in the village.
